Brief Description:

Series I organizes company produced materials or items descriptive of the company‚Äôs operations.  Series II is newspaper and magazine articles arranged by year of publication.  Series III holds issues of the internal publication produce for BIW employees.  Known as The Log from 1965 until 1998, recently it has been named BIW News or The Shipbuilder.  In Series IV each vessel has its own folder, and the folders are arranged alphabetically by the original name of the vessel. The type of vessel, Navy designation and number if appropriate, and BIW hull number are also indicated on the top of each folder.  The types of material include launching invitations and programs, brochures, ship histories, magazine and newspaper articles, some correspondence, and notes.  There are occasionally such things as sea trial schedules.  The quantity and quality vary from folder to folder.

The folders have not been numbered in order to allow staff to add new folders as additional material becomes available.
