Brief Description: Library staff felt it was important to be able to retrieve miscellaneous bits of information sent by researchers, clipped out of magazines or newspapers, or otherwise accumulated.  While the bits may seem insignificant at first by themselves, over the years that they have been accumulating they have taken on some importance. Still, by themselves they are not significant enough to warrant individual cataloging.  However, as a group they are.  This collection is intended to be open-ended that is, staff will be adding material to existing folders and creating new folders on a continuing basis.  As a result the organization is quite simple, and the folders have purposefully been left unnumbered to allow easy integration of new material.  In general the arrangement within each series is alphabetical.  The subject headings used in Series III are derived from the Library of Congress Subject Headings, 15th Edition.  Organizations and corporations are filed under their locations in Series II (e.g. Bath—Maine Maritime Museum).  The added entries in “series” VI provide cross-references to hyphenated entries within the inventory (e.g. “Maine Maritime Museum, See Bath---Maine Maritime Museum, Series II.”)
